Listening activity - find words that begin with the sound listed on the calendar and have the child listen and see your mouth as you state the word.
Ex: I found Milk, money, a map, months, mom

Name items in a group - ‘give me 5’- use your hand to count down 5 items named.
Ex: Give me 5 fruits (banana, apple, grapes, watermelon, strawberry)

Describing objects and forming a sentence
Describe using the 5 questions:
1.What color is it?
2.What size is it?
3. What do you do with it?
4. Does it have special parts?
5. What sound does it start with

Choose a book or read the one suggested on the calendar. Preview the book by looking at the pictures and guessing what it might be about. Read the story once while bringing attention to the words with your fingers as you read them. Read it again anticipating what happens next on each page.

Re-read the book from Thursday. Ask questions about the book such as “Do you remember what it was about? What happened first? Next? Then? Last? Highlight any words that were new or the child did not know and teach the meaning of the word.
